Energy consumption using Intel i9s in productivity has never been an issue especially in ai(stable diffusion). Running Automatic1111 with my i9 13900k build only uses about 51 watts max(27 watts average) on the CPU or less than my 5800x3D chip used. The 4090 is averaging 350 watts since it is doing most of the work. To get the numbers listed in the video I would have to run Chinebench R23. I stopped using CPUs for 3D years ago so it is just a heat/stability test to me. The i9s also idle at 11 watts and the i9S at 7 watts. So power usage has never been an issue with them. I tested this running Automatic1111 with SDXL model at 720 X 1280 with an upscale to 1080p with HWiNFO running on the side. I have done four 13th gen i9 builds and one 14th gen i7 build and all are stable. They all are setup to keep them from thermal throttling in all core workloads. They are also limited by their boost clocks with the i7 14700k limited to 5.5mhz, i9 13900k to 5.6mhz and the i9 13900kS to 5.8mhz. I am not ok with with Intel just adding two years to the warranty. There should be a stop sale on these CPUs since they are unsuitable as consumer products. I used mostly Intel CPUs for a living for over 3 decades and if it wasn't for my habit of setting up my CPUs for all core workloads I would probably be having issues with them as well.

The only way they can make this right is if they replace everyone's processors once the final microcode update comes out on August. I have zero trust with buying an Intel in the future and it is going to be very hard for them to win back that trust.

Key points: - Intel has remained silent since 2022, despite knowing that there is a real problem - oxidation, and now butchered microcode on top of that. - the sheer amount of damaged CPUs is insane. Imagine 1.5 years of sales, and all of these were experiencing at some degree elevated voltages. It is simply not feasible for Intel to do a full recall - Everyone can mess up. AMD did it recently with frying boards and cpus. But what matters the most is how they handled it. AMD solved the issue within 1 month and replaced fried stuff. Intel is f**** around with customers for more than 1.5 bloody years and still no real fix or even in depth explanation of what, how, when and why. They simply tried to ignore the problem until the pressure of the facts became too obvious. Disrespectful, disgusting behavior.

Fyi in the requirements.txt file I had to change "torchaudio" to "torchaudio>=2.3.1" because it was trying to install version 2.4.0 which is not compatible with torch 2.3.1, which was what was installed by default.

intel multicore on the 14900k already went down by about 7% with microcode 125. The more ya know.

I have 2 i9 13th gen that were bought in 2022 and they are both fine. I also have newer builds with i9 13900kS CPUs and they are fine as well. Three of the i9 builds are setup for productivity so they can do all core workloads without thermal throttling. Since this instability issue broke I have also limited the standard i9s to 5.6mhz(56) since that is just above what they use in all core workloads. The "S" versions are set 5.8mhz(58) since I have never seen the use more than 1.35 volts. To limit them I use a feature on my AORUS boards called "Turbo Per Core Limit Control". This allows them to downclock like normal but not exceed the limits I set. For ai work there is no difference in performance over stock and when I do game it is at 4k and the frames are the same as stock. Even though mine are fine I do think that Intel should pull them since unless they know that they not going to be effected they are flawed merchandise.

I've been under-volting my i5 14600K pretty much since day one. After tweaking some motherboard settings like CPU Lite Load, enforcing intel recommended power limits etc. my CPU is running stable at around 1.12v. CPU temperature during a stress testing pretty much never exceeds 70 degrees celsius in summer with this voltage so i'm assuming there shouldn't be any damage as of yet, because at 1.12v, which is really low my system is running stable without any issues. I've upgraded this year from an AM3+ platform, FX 8350 so even if the performance is a bit worse than advertised i don't care because the difference in performance is still unimaginable for me.

I just ordered a 12600K and pairing that with an RTX 4070ti Sssssssssupuh. (still cracks me up to listen to you pronounce that one) I think I will wait to see if Gen 13 and 14 show signs of improvement before upgrading, or wait until 15th gen reviews with no issues.

Thank you for this tutorial, but man openML is so slow... On a 1440x640px picture my 7800xt only gets to ~2,5sec/iteration while my 4060ti/16gb gets 2-4 iterations/sec. I just hope there will be some usefull zluda all in one solutions soon. All the current ones won´t survive the first reboot for some reason.

Good for those, who are interested in NVIDIA GPUs. Unfortunately AMD most of the times still offers better value, even without discounts. Best value currently are used RX6700XT and upwards such as the RX6800XT and the RX6900XT. These cards offer RTX4070 and RTX4070super performance while being almost 40% cheaper compared to their competitor. With upscaling you get amazing 4k performance. The only thing they can’t do is raytracing. With the adrenaline software you can set your GPU so it only needs a third of the listed watt. Anyway I enjoyed your video so I gave you my subscription and a like.
